WENDY CARVALHO-ASHBY
My Story:
I have always been an active person, I played about every team sport out there and competed in the sport of gymnastics, needless to say I was born a gym rat! However, during my undergraduate years I slacked off from working out and gained 30+ pounds. As my journey in education accelerated so did the lack of balance in my life. I started to move further and further from sport and exercise and felt very saddened by this. After completing my Masters degree in Medicine I made the decision to become a Doctor of Chiropractic, this is when my life changed. I made the decision that if I was going to be a Doctor and prescribe health and wellness to my patients that I needed to get on board and “practice what I teach”. I am happy to say that I achieved my goal of dropping the weight and bringing health and fitness back into my life. During my studies to become a doctor, I also became a certified personal trainer. As a trainer the whole world of competing was introduced to me by my mentors Paul Anthony Neil, and fellow FAME Pro’s Annette Milbers-Fleck and Macy Zimmerman. When I learned more about FAME, I knew that this was the sport for me! So for the past two years, my husband (fellow Pairs Partner, and WNSO PRO, Kevin Ashby), and I have competed in four FAME events together, World Championships will be our fifth show and we can’t wait. We are now leading FAME camps, training ourselves and others for future FAME competitions and balancing our careers as Doctors and trainers, with writing for magazines and planning health features on City TV Calgary. I love what I do now, and only look forward to a bright future of health, fitness and fun!!!!

TREVOR RYAN

FAME's youngest Bodybuilding Pro...

About Posing: Being a good poser is a craft comparable to acting in that you are always perfecting it. Throughout the shows I've seen, the competitions I've competed in and the feedback I've received from judges, posing routines should include confidence, personality and precision.

Advice to other Bodybuilders: When starting out as a competitive bodybuilder or fitness model remember that it takes time to feel comfortable with your quarter turns, comparisons, and routine. One thing I suggest to beginning bodybuilders is; practice the 7 compulsory poses that you will be judged on. These poses are the foundation to your posing inventory, use them in your routine but with a twist. Add your own style to a compulsory pose in your routine that eludes your personality and be unique!

My Inspiration: The passing of my grandfather has been one of the most emotional challenges I've had to deal with thus far. The magnitude of his sudden death made me understand how fragile life can be, but how important it is to live in the moment. It was an experience that I was happy to be there for him, as I flew home, and made it in time before his passing. I went straight to the hospital and entered the room, greeted by my grandmother (who is very strong let me tell you) ...and can tell some funny stories! As My mother spoke to my grandfather.."someone is here to see you grampy," ...he got up and said "did you hitchhike here (sarcastically)." It was amazing..that even 1 day before his passing he could have humor in such a situation. I love him so much for that moment and all those he's given me and others around him, including attending all my Jr.B games, ice fishing, and being the person that he stillremains ..inside of me!

My Story: I want to be the best I can possibly be. Whether it's hockey (that I am again playing tones of), roller hockey, baseball, training, boxing, even pool, any sport for that matter I've always wanted to be the best I can be. I enjoy competition and seeking advice to allow me to gain the knowledge it takes to get to this level. I use this attitude and discipline in most scenarios, whether it's getting a good sponsor, attaining Pro status, or winning 2 National championships (baseball). I've always had a sustainable and consistent drive that gets me to where I want to be.

Motivational/Quote: We ask ourselves, Who am I to B Brilliant, Gorgeous, talented, & fabulous? ACTUALLY, who R you not to BE? You are a child of God. Your playing Small DOESNT serve the World. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure about you. We were born to manifest the glory of God that is WithiN uS. ALL of US. And as we let our light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our fear, our presence automatically liberates others. -Nelson Mandella '94

EVERETTE HENDERSON
My Story:  I grew up a skinny kid in Milwaukee Wisconsin in a typical middle class home run by a very caring mother. I was an asthmatic kid and spent many nights in the hospital or in my moms lap trying to make it through the night. Once we got that under control, I broke my arm 4 times being a typical adventure seeking young man. The 4th time in 1991 prior to graduating college basically ended my chances at an overseas basketball contract. It was severe enough that the doctors were threatening amputation, but as always mom knew better and told the doctors to hold off as long as they could. By the end of that week, I regained movement in my fingers and the rest was history. I’ve always LOVED working out and exercising. I played many sports and was a member of the 1989 St Mary’s University National Basketball Championship Team. We brought the first major title, college or professional, back to San Antonio. I’ve been working out steadily since 1992, but got really serious about it three years ago. I never thought I’d be able to compete in the sport of bodybuilding until FAME came to town. This is the most excited and most dedicated I’ve ever been about my HEALTH and FITNESS GOALS. I’ve learned a great deal about myself and about people around me along this journey.
My Interests: Besides bodybuilding and fitness, I also have been Drag Racing Motorcycles since 1996. I LOVE Drag Racing!!!!!!!!!!!! My last event win was October 2007 when I won the Pro E.T. class at San Antonio Raceway at the Street Riders Motorcycle Shootout. I also enjoy Boxing as a part of my cardio workouts. I train regularly at the world famous San Fernando Gym under legendary cut man Joe Souoza who has been the cut man for boxers like Jesse James Leija and Arturo Thunder Gotti. I also take teenage juvenile offenders on Rock Climbing and River Rafting trips as a part of my job as a Bexar County Juvenile Probation Officer. I’m a Ropes Course Facilitator and specialize in Experiential Learning and team building activities. I’ve been working with youthful offenders for 15 years and can’t describe the feeling of being a positive influence on the lives of troubled teens.
My Family: I definitely consider myself a loving devoted husband and my pride and joy are my three children. They are my pit crew when I go drag racing, they have gone boxing with me and have taken part of my training sessions, and have even been in the gym with me while preparing for this show. They have been my multi media crew with the 6 year old twins taking digital photos of my workouts and my 9 year old videotaping the sessions. Without my Wife, Kids, Mother, Brothers and close friends none of this would be worth it.
Special Thanks: I’d like to give special thanks to my sponsors: Boyd Byerly of Accredited Mortgage Services; Joey Cavazos of Elements of Change and my Ropes Course Training Team; Kerry Harris of Akuma Helmets @ Akumahelmets.com and IHT Technologies; Jonathan Uphoff of Destined to be Fit (for personal training); Scott Trout @ ScottTrout.com (NPC Texas State Middle Weight Champ) Nutritionist; Steve and the good folks at Body Focus Studio of San Antonio
List of people I would Not like to thank:  J joking of course: Joey- I’m finally done with my “little thing”; Anthony - There’s no way I’m going to blow away with wind; Marc -Just for being too far away and asking too many questions about junk food

Becoming a FAME Pro:  This past Saturday night was a dream come true for me (at the Diana Chaloux FAME South Central Championships 2008). I've always wanted to compete in the sport of bodybuilding and now you've given me an avenue. Thanks again for the vote of confidence by awarding me my Pro Card, it just reasured me that you can be serious about your health and body and still have an amazing time as well.

ROB RICHES

I want to make it clear from the beginning that I am a lifetime drug-free athlete. Everything I have accomplished is through sheer hard work and a good understanding of the human body and nutrition. The few supplements that I do take can be found within any sports supplement store, and are often only used during periods of intense training. Now that that’s clear, here’s how I got to where I am today…
From winning World titles, to having my body sculptured, endorsing sports products and having the privilege of appearing in international fitness magazines, many of my achievements in life has come from my love and joy of sports and fitness. I didn’t start off with the goal in mind of trying to build the best body I could, wanting to really understand the complexity of the human body, or being a role model and helping others in their quest for getting fit in life. I had tried many different sports and activities that I felt really challenged me. Pushed me to my limits, satisfied my need to be the best – at what ever it was that I did. I started at a young age learning gymnastics, and although I showed potential, I was more interested in the adrenalin rush from extreme sports such as mountain biking, snowboarding, windsurfing and motorsport. It wasn’t until an accident whilst Mountain biking that left me with a broken shoulder when I was 15, did I start to see the sort of changes in my body that set my mind on having the best physique I could build, all through using weights in rehabilitation. If I had never had that accident, who knows where I would be now? Thanks to that accident, it changed my path and destiny to what I believe is right for me.

With only a year of weight training behind me, and barely 16, I had filled out my frame, and could see that within a few years, I could have the kind of body that I was seeing in many of the fitness magazines I was using as a reference for training and information. That only fuelled my desire further, and soon, nobody had the answers to the questions I was asking. I wanted a greater understanding of why things happened the way they did. I didn’t want to listen to the magazines or the locker-room talk any more. I knew it all. I wanted to know more, so I researched, I studied, I asked questions, lots of questions. Slowly I built up a solid knowledge of training and nutrition, while at the same time studying for my degree in Film Production. I was constantly being asked by friends and by those who once helped me in the gym, to now help them train more efficiently and with greater results. This soon lead to me becoming a certified trainer, an ongoing process as far as I am concerned, as I am still learning new things to this day, and don’t think I will ever stop learning. It’s part of the cycle of life.

A couple more years of putting to use my new-found information, and I felt I was now comparable to many of the featured models in the very magazines that I had been reading and following as guides. I was encouraged by friends and family to send some photo’s to a number of fitness sponsors, and was quickly approached by LA Muscle, who are based in London, offering me advice on training, supplementation and exposure as an athlete, fronting many of their campaigns. The next year I entered my first natural bodybuilding show, and won, beating competitors who were many years older and more experienced, and some much bigger. I had a complete package – a healthy balance of size, symmetry and incredible definition for someone of my age. I had found my passion and my niche; To always be the best conditioned athlete on stage!
The following year my competition calendar was full, winning a further 4 competitions, including; Fitness Britain, and both British qualifiers for the top two natural organizations. I started to get recognized within the fitness industry, and it wasn’t long before I had several offers from magazines for training articles and features. I also got signed by one of the largest Health and Fitness modeling agencies in the UK; WModels, and became their face (and body) of their male models.

After much competitive success throughout 2006, I decided to compete in the States against others from all over the World. It was the biggest challenge I had ever had, but one I felt ready for nonetheless. Utilizing everything that I had learnt over the past few years, and with help from LA Muscle, I managed to come in leaner and tighter than any of my past shows, securing another win, and capping 2006 off with a World title win, and all within 18 months of first competing.

I returned to the UK, continuing to train my clients and get further modeling work, but whereas before I felt happy and content with my life, something was now missing. The environment, the lifestyle, the potential of fulfilling my dream of building the best physique was back in California. I didn’t have to wait long though, and after a few months of receiving interest from US Magazines, photographers, and having been noticed by the very fitness icons that had inspired me all those years ago when I first started training, my mind and heart were set on moving and continuing my dream in LA.

Within less than a month of returning to LA, I was featured in several top fitness publications, having my own fitness video produced, and even had my body cast, which was released on a limited World wide production of 250. I’m not saying that any of this came easy to me. It’s one of the hardest things I have had do to, committing fully to the lifestyle and sacrifices I knew I had to make if I were to succeed at my dream. It’s been tough at times, and by no means an easy ride, but one that I have fully enjoyed, and although I wouldn’t say I have yet achieved my dream, in fact, I doubt I ever fully will, which is one of the reasons that keeps me so motivated, I am without a doubt, enjoying the journey, and encourage anyone with a dream and aspirations to stop dreaming about it, and make the necessary steps to put them into action. Success starts with a single step, followed by another successful step and another. Overtime, this builds up to a successful journey. Make a plan and stick to it. Your destiny is calling!

JULIE MARSLAND

My Story: I was exposed to sports and fitness at a very young age.  Grandpa was an Olympic gymnast, physical education teacher and lifeguard.  Grand papa was a diver, avid golfer and had a black belt in karate.  I remember learning to do back-handsprings with Dad and Grandpa in our back yard.  Mom and Dad enrolled in every sport imaginable, until I developed a talent and a passion for soccer and especially dance.
I completed my college degree in Modern Dance and attended one year of University in the same field.  I left the world of a starving artist to become a flight attendant. Suddenly, I was left without a physical outlet…I gained weight, was out drinking and eating Mc Donald’s until 3 am.  I saw a picture of myself and thought:  “ OK, that’s enough.”  I needed to make some changes.
With extra time on my hands, I joined a local gym.  Noticing changes in my body, I thought: “Hey, maybe I should get paid to come workout”.  So, with my dance background I decided to do my aerobics certification.  I started to teach and loved it.  I decided that I wanted to return to the stage and set another goal for myself, so I signed up for a fitness competition and was instantly hooked.  With the bright lights, fancy hair do and costumes, I suddenly felt that natural high I would get when I was dancing.

On the Go: In my off-season, I also completed my certification in personal training, done numerous ad campaigns for companies such as Bowflex, Leg Magic, Sunice, etc. I’ve appeared in numerous magazines such as Oxygen, Muscle & Fitness Hers, REPS, American Curves, FAME, Summum (for which I wrote a exercise series for the year) and so on. I even appeared in five episodes of a French reality series in Quebec.  My task was to educate the “next top models” on how to train and eat healthily, while on the go. I recently teamed up with a stunt team an had the opportunity to host a live stunt show for Bell Express Vu High Definition Television.
In the past year, I’ve participated in several community work type projects:  the first is called “Cabin Fever”.  This was a joint effort between Air Canada flight attendants, who put together a calendar, depicting a day in the life of a flight attendant.  We raised over $18000, all of which went towards Breast Cancer research.
The second is called “Fire in the Sky”, which is a joint effort between Air Canada flight attendants and the Montreal firefighters.  All the profits of this fashion show went to a hospital in Montreal, who cares for special burn victims.  I’m supposed to be participating again this year.
I also just recently began meeting with a group of young, underprivileged mothers (or soon to be), and teach a weekly aerobics class. They are all very eager to lose the “baby weight”.
Did I mention that I’m also a full time flight attendant?
Loving Fitness:  I’m someone who thrives on seeing progress.  I get easily bored with routine and constantly need challenges in life.  I’m competitive in nature, but only with myself.  There is no such thing as perfection; therefore I know there is always room to improve and go further in life.
For me, fitness goes beyond aesthetics.  I do this, because it makes me feel good.  I want everyone to experience this feeling as well.  I love when someone tells me I’ve motivated him or her in some, way shape or form.  I believe that a little hard work goes a long way.  If it appears to be too easy, it usually is and presents consequences.
Next Up:   All athletes at FAME East will be thrilled to have Julie backstage with them as the athlete liaison.  Later that night Julie is one of the trophy presenters and will personally welcome some well deserving athletes to the Pro ranks.  Following that, Julie will be competing at the FAME World Championships & PRO Showdown and will continue to offer advice through her FAME camps.
A Note From Julie: “I’m also very excited to announce that I will be hosting my own FAME event next year, in Montreal - the Julie Marsland FAME Classic! I have many original ideas and hope to have the hottest show ever!” WATCH MY INTERVIEWS HERE!

TAMMY BLAIS

My Story: Hi!  My name is Tammy Blais and I reside in Connecticut, USA.   I have competed with FAME in the past and absolutely love this organization.  The people who are involved in making it all happen as well as the athletes who participate in the shows are ever so friendly as they are inspiring.  I placed first in Bikini Model at my first show for the Mike Kocsis FAME CLassic last October.  After this win and earning my Pro status I went on to Nationals in Miami, FL that November.  Nationals was amazing.  I met so many great people, had a couple professional photoshoots, and as for the competition...I placed second in Bikini Model Pro as well as second in Fitness Model!  Since then I've worked very hard to be even better next time around.  I have many things to look forward to this year.  I have a few photoshoots lined up, will be doing a bit of traveling, meeting up with some great people in the industry, participating in a local sports talk radio show, and I've also acquired a handful of sponsors in my local area!

Thank Yous: "Thank you very much to my trainer and nutritionist Josh Brown, supporter Mark Christiansen, Cavanagh Springs Bodybuilding and Fitness Team, Hot Flashes Boutique, Exotic Tan, Singapore's Grill, Essex Financial Services, CT Cosmetic, and Utopia Salon and Spa."

Next Events:  Fitness Model Search - Nicole Costa FAME Model Search Championships. "The best of all is yet to come this May in Providence, RI for the FAME show!  I'm also looking into participating in the FAME Worlds show this June as well as the National show this fall.  Hope to meet all you FAMErs one day.

Final Words: "Until then, train hard and be your best...see you on stage!"

 AUDREY KAIPIO

My Story:

I watched my first FAME National show in Toronto in 2004, shortly after I qualified as a personal trainer. I had visions of competing, but I got very busy with my PT business in the UK and put competing to the back of my mind. Then two years later my friend, Lisa Carrodus started competing in bodybuilding shows.  By watching her prepare for her competitions it got the fire started in me and in 2007 I finally decided to go for it!  I signed up to compete in the FAME UK Fitness Model Category. The fierce diet and training began and with the goal to compete I had complete focus.  Literally through blood, sweat and tears I got into the best shape of my life.  Lisa came along to the competition to support me on my big day, but ended up entering on the spot for the Muscle Model category!  We both walked away with the titles and got to be on stage together. We nicknamed it the “Lisa and Audrey Show” and will always remember that fun spontaneous day.  Also, the show with Lisa and I was featured in the October 2007 issue of Muscle and Fitness, UK and Lisa had a full article about her in the November issue.

I’ve taken my knowledge and have started coaching competitors and find it hugely rewarding helping create the whole package for the stage. I also run a successful freelance Personal Training and Nutrition Coaching business in Chelsea, London’s most affluent suburb and I am the Nutrition Coach at London’s newest private, one-on-one training studio. This ultra exclusive studio is London’s most expensive; but more importantly the coaches on board are of the highest caliber to cater to their A list members and I am thrilled to be part of the team. I hold weight loss and hiking holidays in Europe (www.action-retreats.com) and in the past I toured with the legendary rock band Queen on their European tour as their personal trainer.

Preparing for a competition is a huge sacrifice and a long journey but the rewards are worth it. The fitness industry and lifestyle will continue being a big part of my life and I look forward to more competitions, challenges and to see what the future holds for me.

Becoming a Magazine Cover Model: Two years before my fortieth birthday I am now a cover model and can be see on the April 2008 edition of Ultra Fit magazine.  I also modeled and wrote an article for their July 2008 issue.  This year I held the UK’s very first FAME Camp and will be returning to the UK’s FAME stage as a guest performer, MC and judge.  I also can be seen on the UK’s FAME flyer.

“Audrey Kaipio and Lisa Carrodus have the kind of facial beauty and exquisite lines that go down well with FAME which is about beauty and glamour as well as fitness.”  Muscle & Fitness, UK, Oct 2007

AMELIE VERRET

Amelie's Story :
Before Fitness competitions, Amelie was an avid snowboarder and was heavily involved in a lot of athletic sports "I like to move".  Then she broke her ankle and had to stop snowboarding because her ankle couldn't support it.  She hoped to find a new hobby that would still allow her to be athletic, travel and meet new people.  Enter Fitness!  After watching fitness competitions on tv she met up with Sylvia Tremblay at the gym and asked her about choreography sessions...  The rest is history.  Sylvia took her on and now at 27 years old, Amelie is a FAME Pro, the celebrity guest poser at the 2008 FAME West!

Originally from Quebec, Amelie recently moved to British Columbia with her boyfriend Eric where the two of them work in construction.   "I like it a lot here, especially the whole food market:)  We are gonna stay here for good!"

Why Fitness?
"I compete in fitness because I think this sport is very "complete" and so much fun.   Fitness is a sport that totally changes you because your lifestyle changes...for the better.  I have been competing for five years now and I am not planning on stopping anytime soon.  I will continue competing and pushing myself harder because I always have a great time at a show"

KENDALL WOOD

Personal Triumphs:
I used to be a skinny unhealthy kid who thought he had muscles while I was growing up in Harlem, New York. Unfortunately, I could not do much with the little bit of muscle I did have due to a severe asthmatic condition. This asthmatic condition was the source of almost 1,000 overnight stays in hospitals and the loss of potential football scholarships.

Nevertheless, scholarships came my way due to my academic dedication. I was fortunate enough to attend the great Emory University where my knowledge of health and fitness was expanded through extra-curricular activities and personal study. Despite the fact that my majors were Education and African & African American Studies, I was able to exercise my love for fitness as a coach and athletic director during my teaching and educational leadership career.

During a student/teacher basketball game, to raise funds for my team to attend top-notch basketball camps, I ruptured my patella tendon. I had two major knee surgeries and was assured that my life of fitness would be minimized greatly.
As I found myself trying to get rid of a tummy, a true before photo moment, I was encouraging others to enter a model search that was being publicized in major fitness magazines for the 2006 Olympia Weekend. Finally, I was compelled to intensify my training to audition for this contest. The hard work paid off and as a finalist in Las Vegas, I had the pleasure of meeting Zac Titus and Ian Walling who introduced me to FAME.

Competing with FAME: FAME is truly a family of fitness professionals striving to serve, lead, and create a healthier world, naturally. I am honored to be the 2007 WNSO’s FAME National Champion and 2007 WNSO’s FAME North American Fitness Model Champion. Additionally, I have the good fortune and distinction of being the first FAME athlete to win both the Muscle Model and Fitness Model Championship at a major FAME competition. Along with these titles, I have accrued nicknames like “Kendoll”, “K-Chizzle”, and “Hi-Def”. However, when you see me, please just call me Kendall.

Personal ‘FAME’:
Along with the expansion of my name, I have been trying to explore my love for acting, and doing more modeling jobs. I have participated in a couple of pilot television shows, commercials for the Michael Basedon “After Dark Show”, NBC’s “Telemundo” as a participant in FAME’s North American Championships, a regular stand in for Tyler Perry’s “House of Payne”, and my 2008 magazine features include Men’s Workout January Issue, Maximum Fitness Jan/Feb issue, and Maximum Fitness Mar/April issue.

My future goals are to become the WNSO’s FAME 2008 World Fitness Model Pro Champion, continue to be an ambassador for our sport, and be a part of FAME’s endeavor to host the highest quality fitness competitions for athletes and spectators. My ultimate goal in fitness and education is to be the CEO of a private school system with a primary focus on health and wellness.

I thank God for all of my blessings and the will to be an overcomer. Let us continue to motivate each other to be the best that we can be.

Next Show: FAME World Championships & Pro Show

Shannon Leroux

Shannon found her love of performing from the time she portrayed the title role in a school production of Snow White. Later, she enjoyed playing Charlotta in Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard, as well as spontaneously entertaining friends and relatives with her singing, dancing, and recitations.

Enlisting in the 1st Air Defense unit of the Canadian Forces, Shannon refined her leadership skills and attained the qualification of Firearms Certified, marksman status.

Shannon flourished as an individual striving for self-improvement. Encouraged by Coach Kevin Fletcher and fellow fitness competitors Maggie Diubaldo and Kim Fletcher, Shannon began training to compete in her first ever Figure Competition. “I was so absolutely thrilled when they announced me as the winner of my first show, it was one of the first times in my life I had experienced such a direct work/win reward.”

The journeys soon lead Shannon to join the elite group who attain titles as both Pro Figure Athletes and Pro Fitness Models with FAME and the WNSO. “Competing with FAME has changed my life; I have been given such tremendous opportunities both to better myself as well as having a fantastic platform to help encourage others on their personal quests. I continue to be humbled by the company I keep within this tremendous industry.”
Her warm smile, long, blonde hair, sculpted physique, confidence, and 5’11 ¾” height give Shannon a striking presence.

Shannon truly believes that “I could Dream it, then I could Achieve it.” This lesson was one, among many, responsible for changing the way Shannon embraced life.

Good fortune, or luck, is a component in the mix necessary for success. However, it is generally acknowledged that talent, discipline, preparation, participation, perspiration and enthusiasm make “luck” more likely to find. “I continue to be one lucky Girl” says Shannon.

“Some people dream of success.......while others wake up and work hard at it”

DANIELLE CARRINGTON

“I believe the gifts I have been given should be shared. My road to a healthy and fit life was not easy and this I hope would inspire others go for the GOLD. My daily motto is being better today than I was yesterday”

Danielle works with Martha Stewart and has even inspired Martha herself about healthy food choices. Martha recently interviewed Danielle about her lifestyle and competition experiences.

In her forties, Danielle is now healthier than ever. Prior to competing, Danielle got very ill (grey’s disease, asthma and required chemo) and decided she needed to make a change. She hired a trainer and shared her desire to look like top fitness competitor, Jenny Lynn. Immediately her trainer said ‘okay.. So why don't you compete as well?”. She didn’t think it was possible, but was encouraged and told ‘If you want to, you can”...  So she picked a show, set it as a goal at first, then turned it into a dream. Her dream came true- she won the show!

Training and competing has given her a new sense of confidence and strengthened her interactions and relationship with family and friends.

She wants to inspire other women and help them from the inside out  to show how diet and training leads to a good physique as well as more confidence and better health.

“I have been blessed to have my health today. I am in the best shape of my life! It always amazes me how often I am approached in the gym by other women who are working very hard to become fit. They ask how do I do it. My response to them is "I decided to commit at least 30 minutes a day to become a more fit and healthy person. I carve this time out of my busy schedule just for me. You have to tell yourself that you deserve it and if I can do it anyone can."

DIANA CHALOUX

My passion in life is fitness!
After competing in Figure competitions and finding some success there I wanted to find an all natural organization where my physique would be a good fit. I heard about FAME and wanted to compete in the tour for quite some time but the timing was never right. I also love the energy of the FAME organization and every time I go to the website or read the FAME magazines I get so excited to get on stage I can't stand it! I finally competed and earned my FAME Pro card at the Mike Kocsis FAME Northeastern Classic!

Now I am also sanctioning my own show for the WNSO on May 3 in San Antonio, Texas “Diana Chaloux FAME South Central Championships & Health Expo”. All categories are represented - so come on out and compete and show your support!

My purpose in this world is to provide inspiration and motivation for others to lead a more fit and healthy lifestyle. I am SO blessed that this is what I get to do every day, and it is a wonderful feeling to know that as an athlete, as a trainer and as a business owner I can have a  positive influence on so many lives, and aid in the battle against obesity which has now become an epidemic here in the US. I have so much passion for this industry, I want to continue to pursue as many different avenues of fitness that I can. I think my ability to be spontaneous, go out on a limb without fearing failure, to look on the bright side of things and love every second of life are what set me apart!

I plan to use this stage to continue to aid in the battle against the obesity epidemic by promoting fit and healthy living and being a fitness role model! It is amazing how many people you can motivate and how many lives you can touch and inspire by being a competitor. I know without a shadow of a doubt that educating, motivating and inspiring others is my purpose in life and I will do my absolute best to fulfill that purpose!

SUSAN BRAUMBERGER

My Story: I've been training since my early teen years and have 2 children. I feel I'm an inspiration to Moms and Mothers to be.

Preparing for these competitive fitness events stirs up a plethora of
mixed emotions, excitement, doubt and frustration... to name a few. It's
a journey that involves dedication, commitment, sacrifice, highly
intensive training and dieting in addition to dealing and overcoming many
personal challenges. Not an easy task amidst the hectic lifestyle; a
mother of two teens, a full time job, involved in a serious relationship
and daily required chores and routines, etc, etc.

Working hard through it all and persevering certainly paid off and I
proudly earned my Pro card in 2007 with a victorious 1st place finish in the Figure category. What excitement and elation!! My perspective and reasons for putting myself through all that is required to hit the stage became crystal clear at that moment and I was on a natural all time high; beautiful euphoric feeling.

My second place finish in the new muscle model category was also glorious. I was extremely honoured to be up on stage, side by side with reputable pro, Ocean Bloom. What an experience; I had a blast! I realize the judging is subjective (as it is in all sports) and I never quite know what to expect and always prepare myself for the possibility of not even placing. In order to arm myself against disappointment, I always go into these shows with a "you never know" attitude and train to improve and be the best I can be and always re-evaluate after a show.

Thank You: First and foremost, the glory and recognition goes to God for without Him, none of this would be possible. Thank you Lord, for the guidance and strength You provided me with in this past year of vast change.

Words cannot even begin to express the utmost gratitude I have for Marco, the love of my life and the man that stood beside me throughout this entire journey with undying and devoted love, support and patience that very few people possess. When I frequently doubted myself, Marco never did and was an inconceivable pillar of strength for me; incredible godsend!
He arranged and edited my music piece for the required routine which was inspirational and flawless and in addition, also helped to coach and create my routine. He did his best to ensure I got adequate sleep and even went so far as to come over (when I was not around) to cook meals, not only for me, but for my children as well in an effort to help ease my stressload and thus, create greater opportunity to capitalize on getting essential and required sleep. The preparation he did behind the scenes to ensure mysuccess and well being was enormous. None of it goes unrecognized and I earnestly want to thank you, Marco, for all you did and continue to do on a daily basis. So nice to have someone significant alongside to share in the glory. Much more rewarding, enjoyable, meaningful and memorable.

Thank you to Alfredo and Adrenalin Fitness for supporting me with my training and welcoming me into the gym this past year. Great environment for serious, no-nonsense training!

Thank you to lululemon athletica for coming on board to support me on this venture. An honour to be endorsed by such a fine, reputable leader in fitness wear. Great quality and extremely flattering athletic wear.

Thank you to renowned and extremely talented photographer, Bernard Clark. What incredible, breathtaking images you've captured. You are truly amaster of your trade. Thank you for taking the day to travel and exclusively shoot with me. Incredibly flattering and most appreciated!!

Thank you to photographer, Christopher O'Driscoll for coming out to the FAME event to capture some memorable, action, on-stage photos. Beautifully captured pics.
Thank you to Lyzabeth for her awesome aclasses. Invaluable resource in learning new strength moves and getting assistance and experience with onstage walking and posing. You're beautiful and inspiring!

Thank you to Nancy Di Nino for all your advice and continued support. I'ma big fan and I'm so happy to see you advance and get out there. Your passion and drive are inspiring forces!

Thank you to friends, Tom Hearne and daughter Maddy for coming out to support me and to all friends and fans on Model Mayhem. It's a privilegeto know that I am a role model to many and to be in a fortunate position to inspire others. Very rewarding for me.

Motivation: Aspiring for personal best is what motivates me to compete. So rewarding to hear people comment on how deserving I am of joy and victory. So nice to be on this beautiful and positive path for self improvement, personal growth, progress and success. There have been so many areas of challenge for me and fortunately, a great many areas of improvement have been occurring. I feel extremely blessed. Thank you to all who have touched my life.

AMELIA POWERS

My Story: I believe I can inspire and help women to reach their fitness goals and motivate them to live a healthy lifestyle. I have had the passion for fitness since age 12 and first started competing at age 16.

Having just won the 2007 Ms. Bikini America overall title has brought me some recognition. I believe that FAME will give me even more national and international exposure which could then help me to achieve my dreams and goals.

My Motivation: What motivates me is that someday I hope to be recognized for my accomplishments, but even more so to be a role model for women, especially those of a young age. Motivation comes from the heart and I always give all of it when I train myself and my clients.

SARAH KOESLAG

My Story
I Love Fitness and Performing! Basically, this is one of the only thing that makes me happy and keeps me going in life. Inspirations for me are Lyzabeth Lopez, Maggie Diabauldo, and anyone who has been able to succeed in this business.

I love competing for several reasons: I love being on stage performing and entertaining audiences, Being able to push my own limits and see what I'm capable of, being surrounded by others with the same interests as me, being able to take what i learn and help others with their health aspirations AND learning from others who have been doing this longer than i have.

I heard about the event through FAME and Lyzabeth! I decided to attend because it's exactly what a love to do and what I love to watch. It has more dance and routine aspects in it, as opposed to the other shows with more modeling and bodybuilding. I'm not going to lie I'm pretty excited to see what kind of talent is at this show. I want to compete my own style and learn from everyone else's!

Michael’s Story:

My father was an Air Force Fighter Pilot, and we moved every few years during my grade school years which introduced me to all types of people and places, and taught me the skills necessary to make friends easily. However, despite my outgoing nature I was very self conscious about my appearance during these years.  In 10th grade I weighed in at a massive 103 lbs! I was athletic but very small, and in 1985 I turned to weight training to help build my body and my self confidence. My body responded very well to the weights.  I gained over 30 lbs during my first year of training, and after just 3 years I decided to enter a local Bodybuilding competition. I loved the experience and I have been hooked on training and competing ever since.  I also began competing in Powerlifting and went on to win many Powerlifting competitions over the next 10 years.

During college I began avidly studying nutrition, exercise, and supplement science. I became certified as a trainer and later a Sports Nutritionist, and spent my college years working in gyms and health clubs training clients and reading everything I could find related to exercise science and nutrition theory. After college I started my own training and nutrition consulting business and began focusing on training natural athletes for physique competition - and no longer myself.

In 1999, I met my wife Kendra who was a classically trained professional dancer.  She became interested in transitioning from Dance competition to Fitness competition, and in 2002 I began training her to compete in Fitness.  She was a natural earned professional status within two years.
This inspired my return to the sport I love so I resumed my competitive career after more than a decade away from competition!
I dedicated myself to my training and entered the FAME Southwest Championships in April 2005.  My hard work paid off and I won the Overall Bodybuilding Title and Professional Status in FAME!

Injured: Later that year, during my training to make my professional debut at the FAME World Championships in Toronto, I suffered a terrible setback.  I tore my left pectoralis major tendon completely in two, and ripped the pectoralis major muscle to shreds.  I had surgery 4 days later and spent all of 2006 in rehab and recovery. I was determined not to let this injury spoil my competitive future in bodybuilding. As soon as I was cleared for full training, I began planning my comeback.
After over 18 months of rehab and recovery, and 6 months back in the gym, I finally made my Pro debut at the FAME North American Championships, placing 3rd in the Pro Division.
My placing was not nearly as important as simply stepping back on stage and putting the previous 2 years of difficulty behind me.  I was finally back on stage and the sky was the limit! More Info
